Thank God I’m a Disney Kid, Er Was One…

I was talking with a friend not too long ago about several of the Disney classics, (i.e. The Lion King, Aladdin, Jungle Book, the list goes on…) and it really dawned on me how lucky I was do be a child as many of those great cartoons were being released and hitting the silver screen. Though I was just a little tyke, I can still remember the anticipation of seeing The Lion King, which by the way, I still consider to not only be an incredible children’s movie, but a fantastic film in general, and how films like it make you feel so innocent, and like a little kid. Heck, even the ones that were released way before my time still proved themselves to be extremely relevant to a kid such as myself, twenty, thirty, and even forty years later, which sadly, I think is being diminished with cartoons these days.
I really didn’t want to turn this into a “why I hate the new Disney,” but I am going to rant a little here…
The way I have always seen it is this; Walt Disney had a vision. A vision to reach, and entertain the hearts and minds of young children all over the world through wonderful, wholesome, spirit-filled animated characters such as Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Daffy Duck, GOOFY (the guy’s name is GOOFY… how could you not be a child and love him?) and the list goes on and on… But as I look at what Disney has become today, that vision has seemingly been completely tossed out the window along with the works of other great networks and companies such as Nickelodeon, and WB. Poor old Walt, despite all the talk of him being a crackhead, and all that nonsense, is turning over in his grave as “Hannah Montana” prances and struts her 16(?) year old body all over a stage, soaking herself with water and imitating the moves only seen in gentleman’s clubs. (I’ve seen her live…its sickening.) I realize I am not the first person to blow steam about Miley….play nice.
I think I’ll be done with that, as you probably get the point, but on one last note, I am really, really appreciative of what Pixar has done for Disney. In the midst of all the Hannah Montana, and Jonas Brothers (oh my god) they seem to really be keeping the dream alive, and I absolutely love them for it. I am almost 20 years old, and I will gladly pay, repeatedly, to go watch a Pixar film in theaters, or where ever it may be.
I don’t really know where I am going with this anymore, as I am getting extremely distracted, but I thank you Mom, and I thank you Grandmother for taking me time after time to those theaters to watch all those great cartoons that you very well could have been bored out of your mind watching. They still stick with me to this day, and hold a very special place in my heart :^))
Gah, nostalgia just completely took over me haha

This Video Completely Blew My Mind

I had to lay down after watching this.

Is it just me, or is it like the most non nerdy thing when people admit how nerdy they are?
Example: “I love going to the history museum. I’m such a nerd!” or, “I’ve read the Physical Encyclopedia of Science Fiction 5 times… I’m so nerdy!”
Like I said, it could just be me, but it seems like people who are truly nerdy, geeky, (whatever) don’t realize it. Or maybe they do realize it, its just the true geeks don’t announce it from the mountain tops (facebook status) for self gratification, or cuteness’ sake

I Have No Idea What To Think of All This

I Thought This Was Pretty Interesting

After doing very little research (and using my brain), I began to find out for myself that Global Warming is a rather large load of horse crap.
This article written by John Coleman (founder of The Weather Channel) only made it clearer for me.

“I’m trying to warn everybody but nobody takes me serial!”

New TV

lie to me

Lie to Me premiered on FOX Wednesday night, and I actually really enjoyed it. It reminded me of a lot of SVU in some ways but with an obviously differing approach. I thought it was solid, and look forward to seeing it again next week.

Since we are on the subject of Television I would like to take this time to announce my falling out with the ABC show LOST. Believe me when I say that I loved LOST just as much as the next guy, but for some reason over the break I just stop caring completely. When the premier hit this past Wednesday, amongst all the hoopla and excitement, I simply DVR’d it, shrugged my shoulders and watched American Idol. Now I can’t even bring myself to watch it. Laziness?… no. I think I’m just so tired of racking my brain over J.J. Abrahms island adventures that I just don’t care enough anymore to sit through two hours of that whore Kate trying to decide between Jack or Sawyer.
Perhaps I got too comfortable not thinking about what would happen next. Either way I’m blaming the producers or whoever for taking so long.
